Dairy-Free Starbucks Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew Recipe Alternative

The Autumn season is filled with crunchy leaves, crisp walks, and pumpkin flavored everything! It’s not called PSL (pumpkin spice latte) Season for nothing! Unfortunately, fueling a PSL addiction might be costly, or at the very least, a bit difficult if you have a dairy free or vegan diet. 

One of the most popular pumpkin-flavored drinks of the season is the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew from Starbucks. But it is made with whole milk and cream, making it off limits to those with a dairy restriction in their diet. Well, do not fret! Here is a dairy-free way to make the delicious drink from home! It's easy, fun, and will have you in the Autumn mood in no time!

Ingredients:

Store bought cold brew coffee OR your choice of coffee grinds
1 can of coconut cream
Choice of dairy-free milk (recommendation: sweetened vanilla oat milk, or sweetened vanilla coconut milk) 
Ground cinnamon
Pumpkin pie spice
Pumpkin purée
Water
Ice 
Optional: Vanilla extract
Optional: Pumpkin spice flavored syrup

Materials:

Blender (Alternative: a bowl and whisk work just as well)
Measuring cups
Measuring spoons
French press (if making cold brew coffee from scratch)
Glass or choice of cup
Sealed Jars/ Tupperware (for leftover cream and/or coffee)

How to Make Dairy-Free Starbucks Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew Alternative

Part 1: Make the Cold Brew Coffee

If making cold brew from scratch:
Step 1: Pour 1/4 cup of coffee grinds into French press 
Step 2: Fill French press with water and stir. 
Step 3: Leave French press in fridge overnight or for 8-12 hours. 
If you do not have a French press, or do not wish to make your own coffee, using a store-bought cold brew works just as well.

Part 2: Make the Pumpkin Cream

Step 1: Add 1 can of coconut cream, ½ cup of desired dairy-free milk, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 2 tablespoons of pumpkin purée, and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract to blender.
Step 2: Blend ingredients for about 30 to 60 seconds or until well blended.
Step 3: (optional) Add pumpkin spice syrup and/or pumpkin pie spice to taste.
Step 4: Continue blending. Start with quick short pulses for 30 seconds, then continuously blend until cream is thoroughly mixed and airy. 
Step 5: Pour pumpkin cream into a jar and leave in fridge for 1-2 hours to thicken.

Part 3: Make the Drink



Step 1: Get out desired cup or glass and fill with ice.
Step 2: Pour cold brew into cup, leaving an inch or two at the top for the pumpkin cream.
Step 3: Scoop desired amount of cream onto coffee.
Step 4: (optional) Sprinkle cinnamon on top to garnish drink.
Step 5: Enjoy your homemade pumpkin cream cold brew!
