Building a Website for Self-Promotion

This website was built to promote photography and videography services. It will do that based on three key elements—content, portfolio, and overall aesthetic. The content being on the Home page, describing my experience as a photographer in the past few years and what I do, which will build credibility to anyone looking for photography or videography services. The Portfolio section of the website showcases some of my best and most recent work, which visually shows potential clients what I can do for them. And the overall aesthetic of the website is what will draw them into the site and have them keep looking. I chose a fairly bright and vibrant header and overall color scheme, which not only reflects my editing style in my work, but my personality as well.   The social media projects helped with creating this website. The Wikihow project helped refresh me on the world of coding and writing in java script. It is a very sensitive language and if there is even a space too many ...

Video Project: Reflection

This video project had to convey what it was like to be a Buffalo State College student during a worldwide pandemic. For someone unfamiliar with storytelling through videography and the unique editing process that goes with it, this project would probably be difficult on some level. Not only do the visuals need to be considered, but the audio as well. And not using any text on screen to tell the story was probably hard to resist. But as someone who is a visual storyteller for a living, this was a pretty familiar and fun project to do.     For shooting, editing and uploading the video, there were not really any issues that were encountered. This whole project was familiar, from filming to using iMovie to edit and posting online, and just felt like a usual workflow. It was quite strange though being in front of the camera instead of behind it, and just having to switch perspectives from the videographer to the subject and videographer was a fun change. It jus...

Twitter: A Multipurpose Platform That Is More Than "Social Media"

Twitter is a popular social media platform, mainly for just that, being social. But, what most people do not realize is that it can be used for so much more than just posting updates about someones life. It can be used to market ideas and products. It can be used for political purposes, and for instant news purposes. It can be used to bring awareness to a pressing issue. The uses are abundant and versatile, more-so than most other social media platforms.      For example, Twitter was constantly used during the Boston Marathon explosion that happened in 2013. With the use of Twitter, families and friends were able to search for loved ones that they could not find, essential workers like police and firefighters were able to tweet out updates to the rest of the world so everyone was kept up to date on the extensive impact of the bombing, and it allowed people to unite and share condolences and feel sad with each other over the tragic event.     In more curren...

The Experience of Creating a WikiHow Article

Image
This WikiHow project was much more difficult than originally anticipated. There was a lot of detail and thought that needed to be put into it to make it a professional-looking, objective article. From creating original images, to making the recipe several times to ensure that not a step or detail was missed, this was quite the experience. This project required the use of Adobe Photoshop, and basic knowledge of coding and website development as well. The coding was more challenging than using Photoshop. Having to make sure every part of the code was perfect was important, because if it wasn’t perfect, if there was a space too many or one too little, it would mess up the whole article. Overall, creating a WikiHow article is a highly detail-oriented task, one that can be challenging, but fun and beneficial to anyone at the same time.   One of the more difficult requirements of this assignment was writing objectively and not in the first perso...
